Volunteering with the Wetaskiwin Public Library is a very rewarding experience.  As an integral part of our organization, it is through our volunteers that we are able to strengthen and enhance services to our customers.

The Wetaskiwin Public Library is always looking for volunteers to assist us in bringing the library to the forefront of readers in Wetaskiwin.

Some positions include:

Adopt-a-Book-Bay

  • Must be able to put books in order according to the Dewey Decimal system and understand shelving rules.
  • Able to read the call numbers and letters on the books.
  • Cleaning shelves. *No allergies to dust is a must
  • Physically fit to put books on all shelf levels.
  • Familiarity with the library is an asset.
  • Straightening and dusting books may be done as one part of this job
  • Hours per week: at least one hour

Homebound Delivery Service

  • Must have valid driver’s license, vehicle and criminal record check.
  • Enjoy working with the elderly.
  • Able to lift boxes of books safely.
  • Available once or twice a month.

Children’s Program Assistants

  • Must enjoy supervising and helping children with crafts.
  • Musical ability an asset.
  • May help with prep work.
  • Available for children’s programs: summer hours or Saturdays.
  • Criminal record check.
  • Available once a week or as required.
