Get Involved!

Do you love what your library does for the community?  Do you want to give back?  There are many ways to show support.  Here are a few suggestions!

Join the Library Board

The library board is currently seeking volunteers from the community to become board members. Citizen appointments occur at various times depending on the terms of the positions available. If you are interested in helping guide the Wetaskiwin Public Library toward the future, please call the library at 780-361-4446 or City Hall at 780-361-4400.

Join the Friends of the Wetaskiwin Public Library

Our Friends of the Library group works hard to assist the library in promoting, maintaining and enhancing library services. Their efforts include fundraising, advocacy, and talking about the library to the public.  The Friends meet once every second month to discuss plans and introduce new business.  For information about the Friends of the Library please phone the library at 780-361-4446.

Volunteer for our Homebound Service

Homebound Delivery is a service intended for patrons who are unable to come to the library due to permanent or temporary disability, illness, injury, or limitations in mobility or transportation.  Patrons can participate in the service permanently, seasonally, or for a predetermined length of time.
We are currently looking for volunteers who are able to transport a selection of library materials from the library to a Homebound Patron's house on a monthly basis. Volunteers in this program are asked to undergo a criminal record check.
For more information about this service and to apply to volunteer please phone the library at 780-361-4446.

Donation Guidelines

Due to the overwhelming volume of used book donations the library receives, we can not accept:
-Harlequin/Silhouette Romances
-Magazines
-Textbooks
-Encyclopedias
-Condensed or abridged books such as Reader's Digest Condensed books
-Books that are older than 7 years

Please ensure that items are indeed 'gently used'
*Library policy states that all donated materials become property of the library and all books and other materials will be accepted on the condition that the Manager and staff has the authority to make whatever disposition they deem acceptable

Please note: the vast majority of donations are saved for the Annual Book Sale. Please call 780-361-4446 if you have questions about our guidelines.

Lois Hole Legacy Program

In honour of the late Lieutenant Governor, Lois Hole, the Lois Hole Library Legacy Program was created to help build the collections in Alberta's libraries. The Legacy Program allows for a donation in the donor's own name, or to honour a friend, family member or organization. Please call Rachelle Kuzyk at 780.361.4446 for more information.

Adopt-a-Magazine

Enjoy magazines but don't want the clutter? Think about donating a subscription to the Wetaskiwin Public Library.  For more information about this program or to find out which subscriptions are needed, please phone the library at 780-361-4446.

Donations

From time to time, the library will post a need for donations of specific items and supplies.  Please check our front page or call the library if you have something you think the library might use.
Monetary donations in any denomination are always gratefully accepted.
